Biography

Chris Rubino is originally a Bostonian; New York City has been his adopted hometown ever since leaving. His printmaking background, initially focusing on posters and other printed matter, eventually transitioning to his own artwork, has heavily influenced his work. Rubino has participated in many aspects of the design profession including title design for films (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines), illustration (Banana Republic, The New York Times), Commercial Art Direction (DirecTV, Ketel One), Hotel interiors (Distrikt Hotel, Ace Hotel) amongst other creative commissions. His work has been featured in a number of solo exhibitions in New York, one in Hong Kong and a great number of group shows around the U.S., Europe & Japan as well as added to the permanent collection at the Museum of Design in Zurich. Rubino holds a BFA from Syracuse University, was selected as an ADC Young Gun and has served as a Board Member on the NYC Chapter of AIGA.

Most recently Rubino has completed a short film titled "Some of us had been threatening our friend Colby" based on the story by Donald Barthelme.
